Local Commissioner Aamir Khattak ordered to ensure a smooth supply of fertilizers to cope with its increasing demand among farmers.
Chairing a meeting here Wednesday, he maintained urea’s prices within the purchasing limit of farmers.
Regarding preparing for the upcoming general election, Amir Khatak directed the requisite authority to complete all-out arrangements to carry out the needful.
As per the details, it was informed in the meeting that a stock of about 133509 bags of urea was available here. Among the general stuff, about 53968 bags were sold out recently, it was said.
The Commissioner was given a briefing by the local authority over urea stock, its transportation, checking of local vehicles to curtail smog and pollution, and a cleanliness drive launched in full swing at the village level on the direction of the Punjab government.
An official from the Environment Department said about 127 vehicles were checked yesterday, out of which 19 were challenged and 38 were fined for causing air pollution.

The checking was conducted at different external and internal city routes early in the morning under Shahid Maggssi, Director of Operation South of Punjab Food Authority (PFA).
Over 43 vehicles carrying milk were checked, of which milk samples from nine vehicles proved impure and harmful.
The milk’s purity was tested by scanning through a lactometer.
According to a PFA spokesman, much farming, powder, and water mixing was traced out in the wasted milk.
The suppliers were served warning notices to abstain from further wrongdoing next time.
A PFA spokesman said that the food body was determined to check the making and supply of foods in the future.
Commissioner launches Qingqi rickshaw registration
On Wednesday, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatta inaugurated a regular campaign to register Qingqi passengers and loader rickshaws here.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, Secretary Regional Transport Authority Rashid Mehmood, and Superintendent of Police, Traffic Munir Hashmi, were also present.
The Commissioner said the city’s zoning process would be completed after the registration process.
According to Qingqi zoning, the route permits would be issued, Liaquat Ali Chatta added.
The Commissioner informed that regular stands would also be allocated for parking the loader rickshaws.
The Commissioner further said that Rawalpindi city was facing traffic problems due to the non-registration of thousands of Qingqi passengers and loader rickshaws.
The administration had given six months’ amnesty to Qingqi passenger and loader rickshaws, Liaquat Ali Chatta said, adding that special registration counters had been established at two different places in Rawalpindi for the registration of the passenger and loader rickshaws.
He added that vehicle Inspection Centers would also be open seven days a week for fitness certification of the passenger and loader rickshaws.
